Privacy Policy — Skinlapse

Effective June 29, 2026 · Last updated July 7, 2026

VertexLab Solutions ("we") builds Skinlapse (the "App"). This policy explains what the App handles. Skinlapse is designed to be private by default. Skinlapse is a cosmetic and educational tool and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Information we handle

Face data (skin-scan photos). Skinlapse works by taking a selfie of your face, so a skin-scan photo is a photo of your face ("face data"). We collect it only to compute your cosmetic Clarity Score and generate a suggested skincare routine — never for identification, authentication, advertising, profiling, or AI-model training. Each photo is analyzed on your device and sent securely (HTTPS) to our analysis service (a Cloudflare Worker calling the Anthropic Claude API) to produce cosmetic, non-diagnostic insights. On the server the photo is used only to generate that single result and is not retained after the response is returned — it is not saved to any server, database, or log, and Anthropic does not retain it for training under our configuration. We do not build a faceprint, face template, or any biometric identifier from your photos. The photos themselves are stored only on your device (and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud account we cannot access), for as long as you keep them; deleting a scan, or the App, removes them.

Profile & skin inputs. Onboarding answers (skin type, concerns, age range, skin tone, goals, optional name) are stored on your device to personalize results; a non-identifying summary may accompany a scan or coach message.

Daily logs & tracking. Water, sleep, check-ins, streaks, and routine progress are stored on your device.

AI Coach (chat). When you message the in-app AI coach, your message text is sent over HTTPS to our analysis service (a Cloudflare Worker calling the Anthropic Claude API — a third-party AI provider) to generate a reply. To personalize the answer we also include a small, non-identifying context summary: your skin concern, skin type, and age range; your latest Clarity Score; and a short summary of your recent daily check-ins. We do not send your name, email, contacts, precise location, device identifier, or photos with chat messages. Anthropic processes this only to generate the reply and does not retain it for training under our configuration. Chat content is not stored on our servers or logs, not sold, and not used for advertising.

Approximate location (optional). Only if you enable weather; used to fetch local UV/weather from Open-Meteo. Coordinates are rounded and not stored. A manual city option is available.

Device identifier. A random, app-generated ID is sent with backend requests for security/abuse prevention; not linked to your identity.

Purchases are processed by Apple. We never receive your payment or Apple ID credentials — only entitlement status.

We do not collect your name, email, or contacts for advertising, and include no third-party ad SDKs.

How we use information

To compute your Clarity Score, generate cosmetic insights and routines, show progress over time, and operate/secure/improve the App. We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

Asking your permission (AI features)

Before Skinlapse sends any scan photo or coach message to the third-party AI service, we ask for your permission inside the app and tell you what will be sent and who receives it. You can review or withdraw this permission anytime in Settings → "AI features." If you don't grant permission, the AI-powered scan analysis and AI coach are simply not used.

Third-party services

Anthropic (the Claude AI API — processes scan photos and coach messages to generate text; does not retain them for training under our configuration; acts as our processor under a data-processing agreement that requires the same or equivalent protection of your data as described in this policy), Cloudflare (hosts our service), Open-Meteo (weather), and Apple (purchases, optional iCloud). Each has its own terms.

Storage & security

Scans, history, and logs are stored locally on your device; with iCloud enabled they sync through your private Apple account, which we cannot access. Network requests use HTTPS.

Children's privacy

Skinlapse lets a parent or guardian create family profiles, including for children, to manage age-appropriate routines. These profiles are created and managed by the adult account holder on their device; we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Child/teen routines are intentionally gentle.

Your choices

Deleting the App removes locally stored data; you can also remove individual profiles, scans, and logs in-app. We do not retain your photos or keep an account, so there is typically nothing server-side to delete. Manage location and notifications anytime in iOS Settings. Depending on your region (EEA/UK/California) you may have access/correction/deletion rights — contact us.

Medical disclaimer

Skinlapse provides cosmetic and educational information only. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Consult a licensed dermatologist for medical concerns.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes are reflected by the "Last updated" date.
